Why FTAD?
FTAD rethinks the traditional robotics model by simulating real world automotive competition environments, most similar to Formula 1, where students operate as full racing organizations. It combines advanced engineering concepts such as aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and materials science with business strategy, branding, and leadership, moving beyond the primarily technical focus of many STEM programs. By structuring teams this way, FTAD exposes students to how engineering, operations, and strategy connect, providing a broader perspective and developing the organizational thinking needed for complex, interdisciplinary challenges. Each competition runs on a two-year cycle, giving teams time to build, iterate, and compete at a level that reflects real development timelines.
The Three Pillars.

Entrepreneurship
Teams build a real brand, secure sponsorships, manage finances, and grow a public presence. This is what keeps the program running.

Competition
Drivers operate FPV-piloted vehicles on custom-built tracks, backed by live data and a race strategist in the pit. This is where the organization proves itself.

Engineering
Teams design and optimize every physical element of their car — from suspension geometry to electrical systems — using CAD, simulation, and real-world testing.
